Field Calibration Adjustment Available for Aquasend miniDOT® Clear Loggers

Extend Field Usability of Loggers

Field-Friendly Calibration Adjustment

Precision just got easier with the Field Calibration Adjustment for miniDOT® Clear Loggers. Our team understands the rigorous and often remote locations where our loggers are utilized. Retrieving loggers, data and verifying optical sensor accuracy is essential to successful data collection. We have developed a simple three-step process that allows researchers to easily measure, analyze and update the optical sensor accuracy in the field.

Benefits of Field Calibration Adjustment

  • Extends field usability of data logger
  • Improves optical sensor accuracy in the field
  • Minimizes occurrence of sending data loggers back for factory recalibration, reducing cost and lost time in the field
  • Multiple miniDOT® Clear Loggers can undergo the same field calibration adjustment at once, minimizing the time for the adjustment

Recalibration vs. Field Calibration Adjustment

Recalibration

Recalibration involves examining the sensor at varying points of oxygen and temperature over the entire sensing range of 0 to 35 degrees C and 0 to 150% (DO) saturation. The sensor is exposed to each point and based on measurements collected, a mathematical equation is created that then allows the sensor to record the proper value at each of the varying points and points in between. This process is performed in the lab by the PME engineering team.

Field Calibration Adjustment

Field Calibration Adjustment is based on Aquasend’s knowledge that all calibration points in each sensor tend to change the same percentage over time. By measuring the percentage of change of one calibration point, we can conclude all other points have changed the same amount. The  miniDOT® Clear Logger software change the calibration mathematics within the sensor so that the calibration point change percentage of one point is applied to change all the other points by the same percentage. This process can now be performed in the field by Aquasend customers and researchers.

*Please note that factory recalibration is the only way to ensure a miniDOT® Clear Logger sensor meets Aquasend’s stated calibration accuracy.

*Not all miniDOT® Clear Loggers are candidates for field calibration adjustment. Please refer to Aquasend guidelines when selecting loggers for field calibration adjustment.
